Norbord’s process and electrical apprenticeship programmes combine practical and theoretical learning and begin with a 26 week stint at MetTech in Grangemouth, where apprentices learn how to use basic hand tools and the safety skills required before they start work on site.
The students then attend College one day a week to complete an NC on mechanical or electrical engineering before going on to gain their HNC in third and fourth year.
Norbord has had an apprenticeship programme in place since it opened 40 years ago and maintains its commitment to develop its own staff to this day
